Self-discipline, a behavior for achieving the result that you want

We all have a time that we couldn’t wake up in the morning to go exercise, go to school, to work. Some of us end up blaming the alarm clock, that it didn’t ring or the battery of you phone is drained or even when someone did not remind us. Why didn’t the alarm ring? Was it the setting or is it malfunction? If it was the setting, then who is at fault? If it is malfunctioned, then who is at fault? The truth is, only you are responsible for yourself, not anything or anyone else.
Honestly, think about your experiences. You can’t go around blaming things or people for your own shortcomings. It the alarm did not ring; it is you who is responsible. Did you set it and switch it on? Did you check whether it is functioning properly? Only you are answerable to yourself, for waking up late, for missing the flight, for everything about you. You can’t control the events that happens around you, you can only choose your reaction to those events. Part of your personal life depends on your self-discipline. You must decide to be disciplined with yourself for a successful career and life.
Your ability to focus on a task to achieve the results that you want is self-discipline. The good thing is that, you can learn to be self-disciplined but it will take a lot of effort on your part and a mindset to become a disciplined person. You can practice self-discipline to empower yourself and raise your standards. When you are disciplined, your management of your life becomes smoother. You will be inspired when you realize the improvement in your personal standards. Start your day, by making up your bed not matter what time you wake up. This is the first step of your practice to become disciplined as it helps you to see small accomplishment with a simple task. Did you know that this is one of the ways that a soldier is trained to be disciplined? This small practice teaches a soldier a couple of things. Of course, the first is discipline and they will also have learned to be efficient in time, maintain a quality on their job. If the soldier was slow, he will be lagging behind (probably, he will end up with fifty push ups for his inefficiency).
As you continue to disciplined, you will learn to value your time and also the time of others. If you are late for date, or meeting, you must understand that a person was there waiting for you. Improving your self-discipline in one day is not possible, the process of repetition that you do every day helps you to improve this behavior. Think about this, if you are late once, most of the people will excuse you but when you do it frequently, there will be someone to reprimand you. At times, you will be upset, thinking that they can’t understand your situation but that is your negative perception. You should always be glad that there are people who care enough to tell it to your face. Why don’t you try to understand the fact that their time is also wasted or the job gets delayed?
People who are successful with their lives are the ones with self-discipline. If you want to lose weight, you have to be disciplined to control your food intake, workout regularly and follow a strict schedule. You must have self-discipline with your spending otherwise, it will be an uphill task to be financially successful. Becoming self-disciplined is a challenging habit to sharpen but it is worth all the effort when you appreciate the accomplishment of tasks or goals.
Look around you from now onwards, see how disciplined are your friends, relatives or your co-workers. Pick-up their habits of disciplining themselves, you will add value to yourself and design yourself to be better every day. Start to be self-disciplined with any small tasks like making up your bed, perfection comes with practice by repetition. You will be one step closer to achieving your goals in life.
