Neglect, the one action that made my life miserable

I was born on the 13th July 1969. When I was growing up just like everyone else during those early years, there were times when our family and many other families had to go thru a period of tough times. It was so tough for our parents as they couldn’t provide a good nourishing meal for so many days. We get basic food, plain rice and water with a little bit of salt. Still, everything was fine for us, kids.
“Money was an issue then, but life could go on as long as you get something to eat”
Things have changed from then to now. The source of income had to cover more than food and other basic needs. There is a cable tv subscriptions, internet, telephone, maintenance fee, educational materials, napkins, expensive milk for babies, car, fuel, maintenance of car, etc.
My parents learnt the hard way to manage their money and somehow to provide a good education up to at least, to complete our high school. Where, we could get a decent job with a decent wage. Then, we could start living our live managing things ourselves and to provide for our family.
As the cycle of life goes, I learnt the hard way to manage my money so that I can buy a house, get married and raise kids of my own. It is the same rice with water with little bit of salt but decorated on a different plate. Thinking that I am already successful, you start making the kind of mistakes that we lead your life down and drag your family with you.
Life will teach you lessons which you thought you will never need. These lessons come through experiencing the tough times even tough you know your parents went thru the same thing. Why is that? How come? It shouldn’t happen to me, I say.
You start going thru the problems to realize that you had neglected one important thing, which will create a chain reaction to other things. Making one mistake will lead to another and another until you have to pause to find out what really was the original mistake. By this time, I would have lost a coupe of years in time.
Many people neglect so many things but there are doing fine, I thought. The truth however, will cut you like a knife. You see people neglect and make the mistake but you don’t see what they are going thru within them. You only see the outside and the perception will always be different.
Neglecting to keep yourself knowledgeable with matters concerning money, health, career, business, relationship and so on. I started to read again the things that really matter to my life. Read about finances, read about health matters, read about relationships, read about life, spiritual, success. In the end, the puzzle gets connected slowly. You could see the light at the end of the dark tunnel.
One of the greatest neglects that I have done in my personal life is to waste precious time. A commodity which will be gone forever if you don’t use it properly. When you spend so much time of your younger years doing things like, spending so much time on tv with zero gain, spending time sleeping the whole day after a night out; spending time is such wasteful manner that you never gained anything.
Naturally, when you are hitting the wall of problems, your solution is not so easily found because you never spend the time learning to gain knowledge. Assumption is the mother of all f!@# ups they say. It actually makes sense. I assume that I know and I neglected. Please don’t go thru life like how I did. Spend that limited commodity time, learning, gain knowledge and take actions progressively. Balance your life.
